We Play - Fish Puppets

Don't forget to stop by Childhood 101 We Play where you can find lots of other great play ideas....

We Play

I love making puppets with the kids something they can make and then play with is always a hit. These cute fish puppets are great for singing the Three Little Fish song or making up Fishy Stories

You Will Need
Thin Card - from a cereal box or similar
Paint
Pen
Craft Sticks
Wiggly Eyes or White Paper
Scissors
Glue

To Make
1 .Invite your child to paint the thin card anyway they like
2 .Let Dry
3 .Turn the card painting side down and draw once around your own hand (Mumma Fish) and then around your childs hand 3 times (Baby Fish)
4 .Cut out the hands
5 .Glue on the Wiggly eyes or make some eyes from white paper and glue them on
6 .Draw a mouth if you like - Neevah didn't want any mouths on her fish
7 .Glue on the craft sticks
8 .Time to have fun with the fish puppets

Down in the meadow in a little bitty pool
Swam three little fish and a mama fish too
"Swim" said the mama fish, "Swim if you can"
And they swam and they swam all over the dam
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
Boop boop dit-tem dat-tem what-tem Chu!
And they swam and they swam all over the dam

Swim said the Mumma Fish

and they swam and the swam all over the dam

I love how they turned out, and thank you for posting those lyrics as I always forget song words and that is one I get asked for regularly!

I love this idea, and I know my kids would too. I've never heard this song before. How fun.
