Is your recycling bin over flowing with cardboard and other bits from Christmas Day? don't be to quick to throw it all away save some for crafting with the kids. With the New Year fast approaching today we made a 2011 Banner to hang up and it was great activity for working on number recognition.
You will need:
Cardboard
Wrapping Paper or Newspaper
Pegs
Paint
Marker Pen
Scissors
String or Wool
To Make
1 .Draw a large 2011 on the cardboard and cut it out
2 .Make paintbrushes by scrunching up some wrapping paper and pinch it together with a peg (which also makes a great handle for your child to hold)
3 .Paint the numbers - before we started painting we identified each number and the whole number
4 .Let Dry
5 .Make holes in the top of each number
6 .String them together - again we talked about each number
7 .Hang

I love how 'green' this project is. Especially, painting with scrunched up wrapping paper. Thanks!
Thanks Kristi I love to use things we already have around the house ... and we have a heap of wrapping paper and cardboard at the moment
