The Pancake Race

Neevah is finding a lot of her inspiration for play from books she enjoys. A month or two ago a reader came home from school called The Pancake it goes through the simple steps of making a pancake and on the very last page they are having a pancake race. Neevah loved reading this book, she brought it home a few times and every time she would ask can we please have a pancake race. The first time she asked I wasn't so sure the thought of the kids running around outside with pancakes and potentially dropping them seemed like such a waste. After approximately the third request to have a pancake race it dawned on me Playdough Pancakes was the answer.

Playdough Recipe
2 cups of plain flour
2 tbs Cream of Tartar
2 tbs Cooking Oil
1 cup Salt
2 cups of Water
Food Colouring

Mix all ingredients in a saucepan (except food colouring) stir over medium heat for 3 - 5 mins or until the mixture congeals. Once cool add food colouring.

Flatten out your playdough into pancakes and place them on a toy fry pans or even plastic/paper plates. Now it is time to race! We did a relay style race as both of the kids wanted to use the toy frying pan (we only have one) but I think racing against each other would be just as fun

Ready Set

The Pancake Race was lots of fun
